The difference between the two options is that Option 2 does not enlist and train Intercessors. However, some churches may chose to do both. Option 1 and 2.
Follow these 12 steps to plan your Soul-Winning Commitment Day.
The difference between the two options is that Option 1 enlists and train Intercessors that will commit to select five neighbors for whom they will make personal contact and pray over an eight-week period. However, some churches may chose to do both.
Planning | Preparation
Step 1. Review

- Working with staff and church leaders, determine an activity/event you would like to occur at least one month after your Soul-Winning Commitment Day. This could be a special sermon series, a Block Party, a concert, etc. Many churches plan a Halloween alternative or a Thanksgiving meal, Wild Game Banquet, Christmas program, around this time of the year. - Select a task force to plan the PYNC emphasis.
- Select a date for the event/activity.
- Schedule and hold first task force meeting.
- Download and print materials.
- Explain the PYNC emphasis to congregation.
Step 3. Prepare
- Begin to gather together the print resources you will need
- Materials/supplies for your special activity that has been planned.
- A special evangelistic sermon series.
- Distribute Sunday School Lessons on prayer to the teachers.
- Develop your Order of Worship with music leader.

Step 4. Enlist & Train
- Begin sermon series on prayer
- Enlist intercessors
- Provide prayer and evangelism training for Intercessors planning
- Intercessors begin prayer-walking neighborhoods
- Select neighbors for intercessions
- Intercessors share with neighbors about PYNC and gather information for prayer
Step 5. Preach & Teach
- Preach four sermons on Prayer and evangelism each Sunday of September.
- Teach a personal evangelism class.
- In Sunday School/small groups, teachers present the four lessons on Prayer.
Step 6. Soul Winning Commitment Day
- Preach a strong motivational sermon on personal evangelism.
- Lead in an opportunity for your members to commit to select and pray for three neighbors.
- Distribute the Prayer Commitment Card, the 3-1-6 Card or one you develop and provide an opportunity for the members to make their commitments.
Begin Praying Your Neighbor to Christ
Step 7. Pray & Invest
- Encourage each person who has filled out a commitment card to begin to pray daily for those listed by name and need.
- Lead them in a time of prayer each Sunday in October.
- During the weeks after your Soul-Winning Commitment Day, each person that has made the commitment to pray for the persons they listed should look for opportunites to build or enhance their relationships with them.
- They could invite them to lunch, coffee, dinner or another simple time of fellowship.
Continue to Build Relationships
Step 8. Week 2-5
- Intercessors send encouraging e-mails.
- Continue motivational messages on prayer and evangelism.
- Promote PYNC Celebration
- Enlist testimonies from intercessors to share in worship service
- Intercessors share answers to prayer
Step 9. Week 9
- Intercessors invite people they have been praying for to an event in their home.
- Intercessors invite people they have been praying for to the PYNC Celebration.
Step 10. Week 10
- Intercessors confirm with invites their attendance at the PYNC Celebration.
- They will continue to pray.

Step 11. Have Your PYNC Event/Activity
- When guests come, make sure you register and obtain contact information for each person.
- Insure that you share Christ and have opportunities for non-believers to respond to the Gospel.
- Provide each new believer with follow-up materials.
- Pastor promotes new message series, church events.
- Continue to pray
Step 12. Begin Follow-Up
- Continue praying, witnessing, and following-up.
- Insure that each new Christian receives appropriate contact and seek to assimilate them into the life of your church.

- Select the date of your Soul-Winning Commitment Day. If you are not planning your emphasis on October 2, select a day that best fits your church calendar. The resources are undated.
- Select a Sunday after Soul-Winning Commitment Day that you encourage your members to invite persons to attend your church for a special Sunday service.
- Select leaders that will plan the event if you choose to have one.
- Work with your music minister and other leaders to prepare for your special Sunday.

- Begin promoting your activity/event and Soul-Winning Commitment Day from the pulpit, Sunday School/small group classes, posters, church publications/newsletters, email, etc.
- Continue the necessary preparations for your Special Sunday.

- Lead in an opportunity for members to make a commitment to select and pray for three neighbors or other types of commitments you would like them to make.
